Photographs featured in the book are from vintage collection. They're not taken at present time. The moment I look at some of them and realized they're real people from the past, It gives me goosebumps. I mean jeez those people might be dead already.
I find the book a bit boring because I watched the film version first. I thought it will be the same as the movie. Reading the first several pages, It matches the film. But as I've gone halfway, I find the difference in the story of the book versus the movie version. To compare, Jacob has a different love interest in this book and in my opinion, the story of this book is much better!
Warning, a bit of spoiler ahead.
The power of the time loop done by ymbryne is kind of unfathomable to think of. I'm trying to fully understand how it works. I mean, If they're living within the part of the past inside a time loop, does it mean they can interact with the younger self of the future? Apparently, they can with the people of Wales. Emma may reach the un-age Yakob within the time loop. Will it affect the future? I really wonder. Perhaps that may be answered in the next book.
Lastly, I commend the author and publisher's unique way of creating a story referencing from vintage photographs. The story creation resulted fine and very good. I'm excited and now looking for the second book and intrigued on how they will make a story again base on old photographs.
I'm giving this book a high rating of: 4.0 / 5.0
Thanks!

I am pleased to read that you enjoyed this book and gave it a high rating. I really like that it is created with the use of the vintage photographs too.
ReplyDeletelooks like it's a great book to read up.. I wanna read too!
ReplyDeleteAs always reading a story in a book is much better than the one in the movie. That's why I rather spend time reading than watching a movie sometimes. But anyway, I still really enjoy watching a movie. Thank you for the well elucidated review about Miss peregrines.
ReplyDeleteI love this story and I was obsessed at one point with their powers. The movie was really great!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of the movie and I might agree that often times, the book version might sound dull after watching the film adaptation. That said, I don't judge easily and with your review, I will give this a read soon!
ReplyDeleteIts one of those classics like Harry Potter or Chronicles of Narnia that got converted to a movie. Glad you liked it.
