I've been wanting to read Greek Mythology since my younger years but I don't know where to start. As I was looking for a mythology book, I stumbled upon with D'Aulaires Book of Greek Myths at Amazon.com. It got a lot of positive reviews so I decided to get one at Thriftbooks.com. And so here it is:

The illustrations in this book are fanciful. While the story, I find it absurd and quite disturbing. Wait, what? Yes. Categorically this book was created for children and is really meant for children. To parents: I'm giving you a warning but don't be alarmed. Don't let your children read this book alone. Read this book with them and guide them. Point to them the moral lessons and the not's they shouldn't do in real life.
This book is not bad or anything harmful, It's just that in some chapters there is a presence of sick killings, incest, and some weird stuff. It's understandable that in ancient times, people are still in the progress of setting their moral standard and the consequence of mating with the same bloodline are not yet known. But arguably, the characters are Gods and demigods, perhaps the consequence of direct inbreeding doesn't apply to them.
There are other worthy mythology books to read written by Bulfinch and Hawthorne. This book by D'Aulaires is still good to have if you want to have a smooth and quick understanding of Greek mythology.
My rating for this book is: 3.5 / 5.0
Thanks!
