Book Review: The Red Prince by Stephen Lucas Lacroix

the red prince front cover ebookTitle: The Red Prince
Subtitle: The First Song
Series no. 01
Author:
Publisher: Stephen Lucas Lacroix
Published date:
ASIN: B0779MJ4MN
Genre: Fiction, Fantasy, Adventure, Epic Fantasy
Language: English

For readers who like adventure fantasy, this book is a must try. The Red Prince is more of epic fantasy comparable to the genre of Lord of the Rings and A Game of Thrones. And you know what, I gave up reading the first few pages of those legendary books LOTR and GoT. I'm not saying they're not good. It's just that, their style of writing is out of my taste. They're tiring to read. I highly respect George R. R. Martin and J. R. R. Tolkien, I know their books are really good based from many user reviews, It's just that, I just can't, reading their books is not really me. Okay, I admit, I'm lazy to read their books and that's why I just opted to watch the film and TV versions which I really like. Perhaps I must try reading them again in the future.

If I gave up reading GoT and LOTR so where I'm going here for the Red Prince? I almost turn down the author but as I've read the first chapter of the book, I'm hooked. It's not as hard as GoT or LOTR read, The Red Prince is actually relaxing to read. The choice of words is good and I also like the character development of the champions from the various Kingdom of Unibeltrasia.

I like the twist of events although the story is quite predictable, I truly enjoyed the plot through the end. Actually, the ending made me anticipate the next book more. I expect the next book to be more promising and more answers should be revealed in the sequel.

If they can fully publish an actual book, I suggest to the author to add a map in the opening page or end page, add a sort of glossary and also make the front cover design more catchy. A little illustration per chapter would be great too!

I'm rating this book: 3.8 / 5.0

Want to buy this ebook? It's available for only $2.99 at Amazon (buy it below; for Kindle):

This book has been stocked on my bookshelf for so long. I've finished the book just this month. According to my research, this book was Haruki Murakami's first novel originally published way back the year 1979, I'm talking about Hear the Wind Sing. Basically, this English re-publication contains his first book "Hear the Wind Sing" and the sequel "Pinball, 1973". Both books are part of a trilogy, the third installment is titled "A Wild Sheep Chase". The fourth book he wrote titled "Dance, Dance, Dance" mentioned 'the Rat' but was not considered part of the trilogy.

I bought this book because I'm a fan of his titles and also National Bookstore Philippines has a promo of Trip to Barcelona (Spain) when you purchase the book "Origin by Dan Brown" from them. I first assume Barcelona is the new setting where Robert Langdon gets his new trouble. Poor Langdon, always in trouble.

Check out their promo post for more info. (Promo runs until Nov. 05, 2017)

Lit News: Moymoy Lulumboy 4 Book Launch (September 16, 2017)

I bought this book a couple of years ago. I just noticed this book while appreciating the look of my bookshelf. You know me, I hoard good-looking books or popular authors and just display them on my bookshelf then read later which will take me months or years before I notice them again. That's what happened to this book.

May dating yung pamagat.

Book Review: One More Chance | A Novel by Juan Miguel Sevilla

Lazada Philippines

I just found this book lying around the house. It came with the balikbayan box from Singapore sent by a relative. Not sure if the signature is from my cousin or from the author itself. But they told me it wasn't my cousin's signature. I'm just not sure.

Genre: Romance, Contemporary, Adult Fiction

Note, this book was based from the movie "One More Chance" by Cathy Garcia-Molina

I have no liking to any Filipino films but I'm aware of the movie title as it was trending before in the kitchen of our office. It was a word of mouth by most of my girl friends (not girlfriend). The movie was a success during its time. I'm not curious about it even if the TV commercial tell me it was a huge success. Many Filipino movies announced their success in TV commercials but the competing TV Channel don't. So, I don't trust what they're saying.

I underestimate the movie without watching it. But as I read this novelized version "One More Chance" by Juan Miguel Sevilla, I find the story pretty good.

UPDATE: Literateknolohitura Facebook Page Discontinues Shop Tab due to Several Issues

We are now turning Off the Shop tab in our Facebook page due to several issues.

A couple of years ago (year 2015), Facebook added a feature to their site. They've added a Shop tab for pages. I'm glad they made a Shop feature. I guess, they noticed more users used Facebook as a good venue for selling their stuffs. I shifted to use the new Shop tab leaving the traditional selling with using the photo album. But over the years, Facebook failed to fully develop this feature. I found several issues.

Do you use the Facebook Shop tab too? Or planning to use it? Be informed. See the issues i found below:

I buy books based from word of mouth, given awards and good reviews so I visited Goodreads to check if It's really good. I saw, It got several awards and convincing feedback from one of the author. It's my deciding factor. I went to different local bookstores to look for it. It's actually hard to find as I'm buying it after a year release. Luckily, I got my copy from Fully Booked.
