I bought this book from Big Bad Wolf 2020, a book fair event at the World Trade Center, Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines.

I never read the synopsis of this book as I don't want to get spoiled. It's just a hundred pages book readable for just a day or two.

* spoiler alert!

Just a brief summary: this is a story of a painter with a failed relationship. He is offered to reside on another famous painter's house by his friend. Then he experiences strange things happening which led him to a shrine. He opens something which led to more strange happenings. A rich man from a far neighbor asks him to paint his portrait but later on, just to be found with a hidden agenda. As the story goes, he was riddled with an entity, a manifestation of Idea. But the strangeness doesn't stop there. He is driven to solve a clue from a painting of the owner's house, the painting - Killing Commendatore.

At some point in the story where Menshiki asks to be left alone on an unknown shrine, It triggers my claustrophobia or fear of being in a small space, like in a dark cave. Imagine being left alone in an isolated place, inside a deep pit, dark, the only exit is far and beyond your reach.

Killing Commendatore is like a haunted "Alice in the Wonderland" plus Dante's Inferno, and some mixtures of World War II history. When I said 'haunted', I don't mean a perfect horror story but Haruki Murakami writing "Killing Commendatore" is very promising, and he could be a good Horror storyteller if he decides to write one.

What I like: the manifestation of Idea, the Double Metaphor, and the genius design of this US edition hardcover by Chip Kidd

What I didn't like: like with Haruki Murakami's other titles, he's leaving some event of the story with no explanation, I observe it his style.

I'm rating this book: 3.8 / 5.0

Book Launch: Moymoy Lulumboy Book 6 Ang Ugat At Ang Propesiya

- https://www.facebook.com/PreciousPagesCorp/

Salamat! :)

Be that as it may, more than showing us the acceptance and the value of appreciation, the label has been exceptionally consistent in making a protected space for underrepresented voices to prosper and share their stories, regardless of whether it's about discovering love in numerous forms and shapes or finding one's sexual awakening with fleeting moments of kilig.

Currently celebrating its 3rd year in the publishing industry, Pride Lit is releasing 5 one of a kind titles from its list of seasoned and regarded authors and contributors. From Alex Rosas' sexual orientation swap romance, "Gay's Anatomy" to Soju's goofy dream "Ang Asul Na Buntot Ni Aquano", the new books represent diverse genres that tackle interestingly strange encounters and inventive premises. Other titles that will be released for this month include John Jack G. Wigley's "Kadenang Bahaghari", Lush Ericson's "Agustin and Ariston's Version of the Universe", and Angelica Sorreda's "Over Time".

“Each book actually talks about different emotions, experiences and were written differently,” Pride Lit Brand Manager Aiko Clarizza Buduan-Salazar points out.

“The upcoming new titles will open readers’ minds on the fresh possibilities of storytelling.” True to its vision, Pride Lit steps up its game by ensuring LGBTQ+ characters and its allies could be prominent figures in pop culture narratives, and serve as an inspiration to the LGBTQ+ community whose vibrant lives are worth telling, and are now everyone’s stories.

“We plan to release more books and become a staple in the community,” Salazar said.

“Aside from providing feel-good stories and erotic stories too, we plan to become more reachable to our target market and community.”
